I have a brother and sister-in-law who are expecting their first child soon and I had decided to crochet the new little one an afghan to help keep him (yes, they are having a boy) warm in the coming fall/winter. I had gone to the local craft shop and found a cute and rather non-labor intensive patterns and picked out the yarn and bought the required amount (using ounces). After finishing the first half of the second strip I discover that I don't have enough yarn for the second of three colors. So, confused, I read the pattern again, only to then discover that I bought the wrong kind of yarn. The first solution that I try is to buy more of the wrong type of yarn and just keep going. But, I get to the store, and that color is gone. So, I decide on a new color, go home, try it, and decide it is too dark for a baby blanket. Now, for the second day in a row I go back to the store and pick out entirely new yarn, the correct type this time, and am in the process of seeing if I will like the choice I made. So, you see, not very focused - well at least with yarn choice. I suppose you could say that I was focused on making the afghan, but all you would need to is go rooting around my house to find a number of project that are "in the works".
Here is a list of what I can remember off the top of my head:
- A needlepoint picture (4"x4") of a cat looking out a window (started when I was a teen)
- A Christmas afghan.
- A set of curtains-
- for my son's room which still need floor boards and window trim installed.
- and windows that need to be stained and sealed-
- in addition to the windows in the dinning room that need to have trim installed-
- after we rip down the tile ceiling to replace with dry wall which will then need to be-
- primed and painted.
- A few items of clothing that need repair (new buttons, re-hemmed, rips mended).
- A warm winter baby hat which was for my two year old as a new-born.
In any case, the boy is making a mess and I find that I need to go.
