What is it about my husband and TV?

My husband is addicted to TV - and not just to certain shows on TV - the TV in general.

There have been times when I was trying to have a conversation with him (which is a difficult task even in the best settings) and he didn't hear what I was saying. However, in front of the TV the task is impossible. In the past I have always thought it was the show that was grabbing his attention. However, after last night, I have come to a different conclusion.

Our cable went out last night.

And what did the husband do? Watched the snow pattern. He still didn't hear what I was saying - even with no sound or picture!

I started thinking about this and after examining a few other instances of TV watching and the husband, it is pretty clear.

The TV is way more interesting than me - even when it the cable is not working.

However, even though the TV is way more interesting than me, he still does not listen to that either. We will be watching a show and I will miss a line or some sort of action and I will turn to him and ask what happened and he always (not sometimes - ALWAYS) has a blank look on his face and says "Iduno".

So, we have the husband, who doesn't hear me, or the TV. One might think that he has a hearing problem. However, there is the evidence that he can hear. What you might ask? Well, he is very fond of retelling of a conversation he had with the bread guy, or his manager, or the neighbor, or just about anyone else.

So, I rank under the TV, and just about everybody else in the whole world. There is probably only one other person who ranks under me. He, sadly, would be our son.

So, there you have it - and what a relationship this has turned out to be. I have lots of other things to say about it, but for the moment, I will leave it at that.
